Yesterday, the links for the 50,000 point Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature card were removed by Chase, and the bonus dropped to 40,000 points after spending $3,000 in 3 months. This was one of the best deals on the credit card & frequent flyer market for over a year, and I’ve been highlighting it on my Top Deals page since this site opened.
UPDATE – 4/9/12 BOTH OF THESE DEALS ARE DEAD!
I use it regularly for all of my dining & eating out spend, and almost always for my travel spend such as airfare, hotels, trains, busses, tolls, rental cars, etc. b/c this card offers 2 points per dollar on all Travel & Dining. Pretty incredible, because Ultimate Rewards points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to United, Southwest, British Airways, Hyatt, Amtrak, & more! You can also use them for gift cards at a 1 cent per point ratio, and for travel at a 1.25 cents per point ratio. Not to forget there’s no foreign transaction fees with this card. Gosh, I LOVE this card! They don’t even pay me to say this…
How I’ve Used The Card:
I recently transferred 8,000 points to Southwest for a free one way flight from Los Angeles to Omaha this summer. Last Christmas I transferred 44,000 points to Hyatt for 2 free nights at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome. The hotel was going for $860 a night while we were there so we got over $1,700 in free hotel stays! Not to mention, it’s a top notch 5 Star hotel in the center of the city.
On top of all that, at the end of the year you get a 7% bonus on all points earned. So 50,000 points turns into 53,500 (total), plus all of the points you earn from spending!
For those of you who never ended up applying for this incredible card…..
THERE IS STILL A 50,000 POINT OFFER!! DEAD AS OF 4/9/12
That’s right people, that picture above is a screenshot from THIS APPLICATION.
This application is for the Mastercard version of the card. So if you were hoping for a Visa Signature, you may not be able to get it. After receiving the card in the mail, activating it, and confirming your sign-on bonus, you may be able to request that they switch it to a Visa Signature, but I wouldn’t bank on it. Regardless, if you’re getting the card for great travel benefits, and tons of points – this is still an incredible winner!
Can I have BOTH the Visa & Mastercard?
Some people have had success getting approved for the Mastercard after already having the Visa, and getting both bonuses. To go for both, you need to be experienced in talking with a Chase reconsideration rep on the phone, and have reasons why you need the Mastercard instead of Visa, b/c they will be able to see you already had/have the Visa. I personally have not tried this, but I have read a few (not many) success stories on Dans Deals & Flyertalk.
The Chase Bonuses Recently….A Little Wild!
People have been finding lots of “hidden” Chase links recently for applications and within 48 hours of them getting posted on popular forums like Flyertalk, and on other popular frequent flyer blogs, they have been taken down by Chase. Make sure you take screenshots of the application page that lists the bonus before you apply for any of them.
Here’s one that has been up today. Who knows how long it will last. I’m going to bet 24 more hours:

If you want more short notice links like this, follow my Facebook & Twitter. You can also subscribe via email, but some short notice and very limited time offers, I only post on Facebook & Twitter. Like the $5 for $10 of Starbucks deal that I just posted about ONLY on FB & Twitter & the $10 free Panera deal yesterday!
