Bump The Bonus Succes for $50 United Credit and 5,000 United Miles!

As reported a few days ago in my post, someone found a Chase United credit card offering an additional 5,000 miles after adding an authorized user to your card, and a $50 statement credit after first purchase, on top of the 50,000 United miles. Chase will generally match your sign up offer to a higher one within 30-90 days after you signed up for the card.

I had just signed up for the card a month ago, so I sent them a Secure Message after logging in to my account at chase.com. Here’s what I said:

Hi Chase,

I was recently approved for the United Mileage Explorer
Visa card a month ago on the bonus terms for 50,000 United
Miles after first purchase. Great offer. Today I learned
that there s an offer for also receiving 5,000 miles for
adding an authorized user, and a $50 statement credit
after first purchase as well.
As a long time Chase card holder, could you match me to
that offer?

They quickly wrote back the next day:

Dear David A Morrison,

Thank you for your recent inquiry on your United
MileagePlus Explorer credit card account.

As you requested, we have applied a $50.00 statement
credit to your account. You will see this adjustment on
your next billing statement.

To add an Authorized User to the account, please reply to
this email with the name of the new user. Once the
Authorized User is added, a credit card with the new
user’s name will be mailed to the address listed on your
account and we will add the additional 5,000 bonus miles.
In addition, you can earn 10,000 bonus miles if you spend
$25,000 in purchases in any calendar year (January through
December). Once all of the above have been met you will
have received a total of 65,000 miles.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you,

I noticed today that my Chase United card that previously had a $0 balance, now has a -$50 balance! The $50 statement credit has already posted. I wrote back to Chase with the name of my Authorized user and although they haven’t written back with confirmation yet, I believe they will send that new card soon and credit me another 5,000 United miles.

If you recently signed up for the United card and didn’t get this offer, then I encourage you to write in and receive the higher bonus. Worked for me! As always, they say YMMV, which is “Your Mileage May Vary”.

It’s raining miles and bonuses everybody, and there’s no need for an umbrella! :)
