I WENT BUNGEE JUMPING IN COLOMBIA!!! Check Out The Video & Face YOUR Fears

Safe (not) zip line out to the safe (not) bungee platform!

Everybody has to face their fears at least once in their life time, even me!
I’ve been taking adventure trips for a few years now all over the world doing everything from Class 5+ Whitewater Rafting, Biking the “Worlds Most Dangerous Road” in Bolivia, to heck – skydiving!! The one thing that I’ve been pretty afraid to do in my adventure travels has been bungee jumping. My friend Brad and I ALMOST did it when we were adventuring through Peru in 2009, but we opted for Paragliding b/c it was $60 vs the $90 bungee jump that only lasts 10 seconds.  I knew as soon as I saw it offered in San Gil, Colombia that we were going to HAVE to do it. Especially considering the price of 35,000 Colombian Pesos, which is about $20 USD, it was a no-brainer!! We took a 4,000 peso cab out to the place and made it happen!
Not the tallest bungee in the world at 135 feet, but it was sure scary!
Check out the pictures and video for yourself:

As you can see, we had to do a pretty sketchy zip-line out to the rickety platform. At the end of the zipline you climb up onto the platform which had me a little shaky. It reminded me of the first few times I went rappelling several years ago. First step is the hardest! Then I waited up there for my friend Brenton to jump, which let the tension build up. I told him that I HAD to go first! You can see in the video that I’m questioning the simple instructions of “Jump straight out with your hands out”, and we’re laughing about how nervous I am, haha.  I leaped off the platform with all my faith in a stretchy rope and let my wings fly, and right about before the rope starts stretching at the end of my free fall – I thought I was going to die! I didn’t die, I made it, and my stomach caught up to me about 20 seconds later. What a rush!!
I’ve done so many high cliff jumps off of rocks and waterfalls into water that I can’t even count them all, but when you’re jumping 135 feet and staring at the hard ground below, it’s pretty intense!
I’ll say that it was pretty scary, but I loved it, and I’ll do it again.

What are your fears and what have you been afraid to do while traveling?
